Happy Scrappy Friends: Neglected Tools

Hello hello! :) Are you guys visiting from Cathleen? If not, you might want to jump right back to the Happy Scrappy Friends blog to start from the beginning. Our blog hop topic - you've guessed it from my blog title - is tools you haven't used in a long while. Now, we all have a few of those, amirite? In my case, it's worse... I have that fabulous set of nesting triangle dies. Completely unused for no particular reason. That is until this past weekend.

Since fall is slowly making it's way, I got out an older paper pad (Crate Paper Wonder collection) with lovely warm hues and gorgeous patterns that I thought fit the season quite good.

I originally meant to use lots more of the triangles or different sizes but you see, I'm back on the clean and simple train. I had three of the shapes overlap a bit and sewed down the center so I could bend the sides and get more dimension.

The sentiment is from a stamp set (Everyday Circles) I received from Neat & Tangled for my Guest Designer spotlight in January. Also, don't the cork letters add to the fall feeling? I die cut those with a Studio Calico die set and it did cut perfectly.

What's your most neglected tools right now? Border punches? Silhouette Cameo? I'm glad I've found that little die set above. Next up on my list would have been that Sew Easy hand-stitching tool from a few years back 😉

Now, let's find out what Elly has to report on the topic!

Happy Scrappy Friends: Material Challenge

Hi and thanks for stopping by for the Happy Scrappy Friends blog hop! Soooo, you know I love to take on a good challenge and the one for today is no exception! We decided to play with stamps, veneer and washi this month

For the stamps, I used an older Papertrey Ink stamp set called "In Bloom" together with Studio Calico "Grey Slate" ink. The veneer part is obvious, I guess. As for the washi tape, I used that as a pattern paper to punch out two additional butterflies.

In addition to the three fixed challenge supplies, I opted to play with some new goodies I got recently. One is a new birthday die by My Favorite Things and the other thing is a mini ink blender and some distress ink cubes. Oh dearies, I still have some training hours ahead of me with those until I get that gorgeous smooth ink blends...

Anyway, that's it from me - your next stop is Daphne! Happy hopping, all!

Happy Scrappy Friends: Die-cuts

Die-cuts, whether they are ready made or of the home made breed, are my favorite thing to create a focal point. Just layer a bunch together and you're basically done. Lucky me, die-cuts are our topic for the Happy Scrappy Friends blog hop.

Instead of my usual pinks and yellows, I have a boy birthday card to show today. The die-cuts I chose are a mix of bought one's from Crate Paper and the vellum stars I die-cut myself with nesting Studio Calico dies. Also, how cute is that soft blue and red background paper? An oldie but goodie from October Afternoon.

Now, since our blog hop group currently meets IRL for the first time this weekend in lovely Hamburg, I hope you don't mind me sending you right to Daphne's blog while we explore the city :)

Also, don't forget to stop by the challenge blog for a chance to be our guest and win a prize. Have a nice Sunday, all!
