Happy Insta Girls: Halloween Hop

Hey there, how about some Halloween Inspiration today? You probably remember the Happy Insta Friends blog hops I have participated in the past. It’s one I particularly love because you get to actually send your cards and this time also a little Halloween treat to one of the participants opposed to „just“ make something fitting the theme. Sadly though, this is the last installment :( Blogs nowadays don’t seem to have much audience compared to Instagram and other social media outlets and while we blog hoppers know each other from Insta, we still haven’t found a better way to make this blog hop happen than on our actual blogs (ideas welcome!).

Anyway, here is the fabulous card and gift I received from Biggi.

The card is 3D with multiple layers and the treat she sent me is an amazing haunted house filled with candy.

You can even open the door and detach the roof - umh, hello!! How amazing is this? Thanks so much, Biggi 😘

The card I sent to our lovely blog hop coordinator Birka features a more scared than scary pumpkin and my treat to her was a mummy that hides a chocolate bar inside. For the card, I used the fun glitter splatter technique invented years ago by Rahel Menig.

The treat package took me a while to figure out. Finally, I decided on a simple pizza box style wrapped with tissue paper and seam-binding. I punched the eyes from white paper and added black round puffy stickers. The bulb style safety pin makes a great nose and holds it all together. I really hope Birka liked her package.

Now, I send you on your way to Birka to get some more Halloween inspiration. I myself will hop a little later since I left on jet plane a few days ago… Happy fright night, everyone! 👻

Klartext Design Team: Baby Boy Slider Card

About three months ago, Dani of danipeuss.de contacted me and offered me to join her new Klartext stamp design team. With regard to other commitments right now, I usually would have declined politely but with some brands the answer simply is a resounding YES!! and you damn sure make time for it.

Quite honestly, I have ogled at a lot of Dani's stamp releases in the past years since they are right on trend, have cute images and many of their sentiments just make me laugh. Klartext (meaning: plain language) is definitively my thing - even more so, the older I become ;) Also, my first Klartext stamp purchase dates back to probably 2010 (!) and I still like to use it. So, long story short, you will get to see quite a few projects with new Klartext stamp releases and I also want to dust off some neglected stamps and papers in my stash this year.

A card I made with the most recent June release, is a slider card to celebrate the arrival of a little baby boy. I remembered an older PTI set with a little airplane that would pair well with the Klartext sets "Großes Glück" and "Interaktiv" for the baby card theme.

Despite the slider technique, I kept the design relatively clean and simple just how I like it. For the finishing touches, I also got out my beloved Mister Huey Shine. Ha, another item from the ever growing stash in use 🙌

What's on your desk right now? I'd love to read and see it.

Christmas (Gift Enclosure) Cards

Hi there, I hope you had a merry little Christmas! Ah, I can't help but still sing that song in my head about once a day. The season just goes by so fast... which is exactly, why I wanted to show you a smaller version of my Christmas cards that I used as Christmas gift enclosure cards and also as small gifts to give to friends so they can dress up their gifts, too. I still had a bunch of kraft Project Life cards from guest designing for Dani Peuss in summer. They're basically 4 x 6 cards with a perforation line in the middle just screaming to be made into little cards or tags.

First, I got my white ink pad out and stamped a fabulous star background pattern from a Studio Calico stamp subscription set. Then I used two layers of die-cut tags, one is vellum with a strip of silver washi tape, the other is again one of those super cute snowmen from Crate Paper's Snow & Cocoa collection stamped with a simple Christmas sentiment. I also layered a die-cut glittered snowflake in-between for good measure. Don't you love when you can whip up something without buying expensive manufactured die-cuts or stickers? Also, my Crop-a-Dile got quite a workout this holiday season. I don't merely use it often enough, though.

Don't think I only stuck to the snowman style cards. The concept for this next one is very similar, though. I got me these Kesi'Art snowflake dies and die-cut one from black cardstock (with a piece of silver glitter paper on one side) and layered a second vellum snowflake underneath.

I also found this fun mustard color patterned paper that made me think of actual fuzzy snowflakes dancing in the air. To give it a little more texture, I ran it through my Cuttlebug with a We R Next Level embossing folder (it's a set of two called 'geometric'). A stamped sentiment and a big pearl brad from the stashed finished it up.
